Laboratory consumable · lyophilised peptide reconstitution diluent
Bacteriostatic Water is sterile water containing 0.9% w/v (9 mg/mL) benzyl alcohol as a bacteriostatic preservative. The benzyl alcohol prevents bacterial contamination during multi-dose use, allowing a single vial to be accessed multiple times under aseptic laboratory conditions.
It is the standard diluent for reconstituting lyophilised research peptides. After reconstitution, a peptide solution dissolved in bacteriostatic water remains stable substantially longer than when dissolved in unpreserved sterile water — making it the preferred choice for peptide stocks used across multiple days of in-vitro experiments.
For in-vitro laboratory use only. Note: benzyl alcohol may be incompatible with certain sensitive formulations; verify compatibility before use with each compound.
