Neuropeptide bioregulator · neuronal gene expression research
Pinealon (Glu-Asp-Arg; EDR) is a short synthetic tripeptide bioregulator developed at the St. Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology. It belongs to the same peptide-bioregulator research programme that produced Epithalon and Thymalin, and is characterised by high cell-membrane permeability and aqueous stability.
In vitro, Pinealon has been studied for its effects on neuronal and retinal cell lines, with published research examining its apparent role in modulating the expression of genes associated with apoptosis, reactive oxygen species (ROS) response, and neuroprotective pathway activation in culture models.
Its small size and chemical simplicity make it a useful probe compound in studies characterising the receptor or nuclear interactions of small peptide bioregulators in neuronal in-vitro assay systems.
No physiological or therapeutic properties are claimed; supplied for in-vitro laboratory research use only.
